The whole world of Car-Net in your Touareg

This is an offer by Volkswagen AG, Germany.

Fully connected. The Touareg.

The internet and digital networking have become a part of our day-to-day, so why should you have to do without when you’re in your car? That’s why Car-Net’s mobile online services are included in the Touareg – they’re available as soon as you activate them and have been brought to a whole new level: maximum connectivity.

Prerequisites for Car-Net

Experience connectivity

A built-in eSIM card ensures access to the internet and therefore also to the world of Car-Net’s online services. This way you will always stay informed of the latest and greatest and enjoy non-stop entertainment.

Guide & Inform Premium

If you’re looking for exciting destinations nearby, you can get up-to-date traffic information right from the internet, and much, much more. In the exclusive "Guide & Inform Premium" package for the Touareg, the new Internet and hybrid radio services introduce unlimited entertainment to the vehicle.  Thanks to the Online Route Calculation, 3D City Maps in selected cities, Satellite Maps and incremental online map updates, navigation has become more intelligent and easier to use. Not only can you display current news, you can also have it read to you in the comfort of your vehicle.

Unlimited entertainment

No matter where you are, you no longer have to miss out on your favourite radio programmes and podcasts thanks to the Internet Radio. If you are using a conventional radio to listen to a station and you leave the broadcast area, the Hybrid Radio function will automatically switch from land-based reception to internet streaming. Your favourite radio programme will continue to play without a hitch.
To enjoy the Internet Radio and Hybrid Radio services, you have to purchase eSIM data packets or use your own data connection.

Security & Service

Be more at ease on the road with “Security & Service”. This Car-Net service package offers mobile access to important vehicle functions and connects flexibility and transparency, increasing your comfort level. Whether you need Service Scheduling, Automatic Accident Notification, Breakdown Call or an Online Anti-Theft Alarm: Your personal services support you in almost any situation and provide you with essential information regarding your mobility.

Always there for you

The “Emergency Call Service” helps you in an emergency situation. In serious accidents, for instance, where airbags are activated, help is called automatically. If your Volkswagen registers an accident, the service will establish a connection to the Volkswagen emergency call centre and transmit important information to the first responders. You can also call for help manually at the touch of a button.

To use the Car-Net services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log in with your username and password. A separate contract must also be agreed online with Volkswagen AG. To use the services for the full period, you have 90 days after vehicle handover in which to register the vehicle at www.myvolkswagen.net or using the “Volkswagen We Connect” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). If the customer registers at a later date, the duration of the free period will be reduced accordingly. The use of Car-Net mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated Internet connection. Volkswagen AG will be liable for the associated data costs incurred within Europe, with the exception of the Internet Radio and Hybrid Radio services. For the use of the Internet Radio and Hybrid Radio services and for the Wi-Fi hotspot, data packages can be purchased from Cubic Telecom, our mobile communications partner, and used in the network coverage area within many European countries. The data in these package can be used by all users and vehicle occupants. You can find information on conditions, prices and supported countries at vw.cubictelecom.com. Alternatively, you can use the Internet Radio and Hybrid Radio with a mobile device (e.g. smartphone), provided it has the ability to function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. In this case, the corresponding services are only available subject to an existing or separate mobile phone contract between you and your mobile network operator and only within the coverage area of the respective mobile network. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data over the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad. The services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes or ceased during the contract period. The specified fuel consumption and emission data have been determined according to the measurement procedures prescribed by law. Since 1 September 2017, certain new vehicles have been type-approved according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), a new, more realistic testing process for measuring fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. Starting on 1 September 2018, the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) will be replaced by the WLTP in stages. Owing to the more realistic test conditions, the fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions measured according to the WLTP will, in many cases, be higher than those measured according to the NEDC. This may lead to corresponding changes in vehicle taxation from 1 September 2018. Further information about the differences between the WLTP and NEDC is available at https://www.volkswagen.com.mt/en/owners-and-users/useful-information/wltp.html.

We are currently still required by law to state the NEDC figures. In the case of new vehicles which have been type-approved according to the WLTP, the NEDC figures are derived from the WLTP data. The additional provision of WLTP values is voluntary until their application becomes mandatory. In cases where the NEDC figures are specified as value ranges, these do not refer to a particular individual vehicle and do not constitute part of the sales offering. They are provided purely for comparison purposes between the various types of vehicle. Additional equipment and accessories (attachments, tyre format, etc.) could change relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics. As well as weather and traffic conditions and personal driving style, these add-ons could also affect a vehicle’s fuel consumption, power consumption, CO₂ emissions and performance.

Further information regarding official fuel consumption and the official, specific CO₂ emissions for new passenger vehicles can be found in the “Guidelines on fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions and electricity consumption of new cars” which is available free of charge from all points of sale and DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen, Germany (www.dat.de/co2).
