Main Inspection Service

Main Inspection Service

Is it time for the main inspection? Your Volkswagen Partner will take care of arranging an appointment with a qualified specialist. You can also have your vehicle checked beforehand. During the Main Inspection Pre-Check, your Volkswagen will be checked in the relevant points, free of charge. The workshop will inform you of any detected defects. Any necessary repairs will only be performed after consulting with you. Tip: Request the Main Inspection Pre-Check at your Volkswagen Partner and book the Main Inspection Service at the same time.

  • Intervals of inspection

Depending on the vehicle equipment and operating conditions, the inspection of your vehicle will be conducted according to either the fixed or flexible service. Whether it’s a Golf, Polo or another Volkswagen – safety-relevant aspects of your car will be checked and professionally serviced in the workshop.

The sticker in the door pillar or the Service Interval Display on your speedometer – the question of where to find your next service appointments depends in turn on another question: Is it with or without an oil change?

When does my vehicle have to go for the next service?

The following distinction is made when it comes to service:

    • Appointments with an oil change (e.g. Interval Service): In this case, the Service Interval Display or the multi-media system indicates the next appointment
    • Appointments without an oil change (e.g. inspection): In this case, the next appointment is in the door pillar
  • Scopes of inspection

During an inspection, maintenance works are performed in accordance with the service schedule. This helps to keep your vehicle safe in road traffic. Up to 42 inspection points on your car are checked. The inspection encompasses work on the following components:

    • Running gear
    • Electrics
    • Engine and gears
    • Vehicle body
  • Inspection for hybrid and electric vehicles

The maintenance of an electric vehicle can be more simple, as fewer components may mean less wear and less need for repairs. As a result, you could benefit from lower maintenance costs and visits to the workshop might happen less often.

    Intervals for ID. models

    • In accordance with the Service Interval Display, at the latest after two years with no mileage limit, with brake fluid and interior filter replacement

    Intervals for hybrid vehicles

The inspection intervals for plug-in and mild hybrids correspond to those of combustion engine models.

    • Oil change every 15,000 km or after one year*
    • Inspection every 30,000 km or after two years*

    * Depending on which occurs first.
